About Cave

Neru and I became friends in 2019. Before that, he was Robotech and Light Rock1 user, I didn’t know his brand at that time…

I started participating in Offthegrid in 2016. I have always hoped to be recognized by the Japanese market, which has the strongest outdoor culture and the most stringent requirements for quality details. Of course, I also hope to be recognized for quality, not for cheapness. I always feel that the most fulfilling feeling comes after the challenge of the most difficult thing is successful…

Through a friend’s introduction, I had some communication with Neru on Instagram and got to know their brand. He told me that he wanted to make a different tent. His concept is hemispherical, which needs to be durable and good-looking. The reason he wanted to use cotton cloth was that there was no cotton hemispherical tent on the market at that time, which can reduce condensation and can be used for wood stoves; this tent does not need to be too big, just restrained enough…...The name is Cave.

My English is poor, so I can only communicate through Google Translate, which involves many professional issues. Many times I need to switch the translated English into Chinese again. I will send it to him only after the literal meaning is clear…

At that time, we had several mornings a week, starting around 4:30-5:00 Although discussing tents was a bit tedious, I enjoyed that time very much. It often reminded me of the feeling of learning technical discussions at Banpo. Sometimes, in order to express something clearly, we had to communicate for a long time through hand-drawn line drawings and pictures... Cave made multiple versions repeatedly. The first version was made of yellow breathable fabric. Because it was not perfect, it was quickly rejected. Then we changed and tried again. Because we were too involved in the communication process, we didn’t feel the passage of time. It took about two years and multiple versions before it was finally released;

The second version was white. In order to test and display it, we took it to Lenggacuo in western Sichuan to shoot Opposite is the magnificent Gongga Snow Mountain, the King of Shu Mountains; after the final gray version was made, we all felt that it was close to perfect. I told Neru that I wanted to take product photos in the coolest place, so that winter we went to Genhe National Forest Park with a temperature of -15 degrees, because I heard that you can take photos of the Ewenki people's free-range reindeer there...

Unknowingly, our cooperation has reached the fifth year. This year, Neru said that many users who own Cave want a foyer. The foyer can be used alone, and when combined together, it must be practical and convenient for placing more equipment. The most important thing is that it must look good.....

So the Cave living room was produced after two studies. I hope that this design can bring a better outdoor experience to friends who own Cave!
